WHO KNEW: Woody Harrelson’s dad was a mob hitman?
We didn’t, and now you do. In 1982, Charles Voyde Harrelson (Woody’s dad) was convicted of murdering a U.S. District Judge. The first federal judge to be murdered in the 20th century. And he bragged about killing many others, including J.F.K., here.
WHO KNEW: Woody Harrelson was arrested for assault the same year his dad was convicted of murder?
We didn’t, and now you do. Turns out the 1982 arrest wasn’t Woody’s only arrest. Read all about his rebellious streak here. Yet we prefer to savor his top performances, and there are so many here.

(Missed, forgotten, overlooked, or hidden gems.)
Heart of the Congos by The Congos-1977/Black Ark Studios: Arguably a great roots reggae album, if not perhaps the greatest, it’s so much more than that. In addition to influencing every reggae album to waft in its vapor, it’s as though a diamond exploded, leaving diamond dust on all music hence. Listen and you’ll hear UB40, Marvin Gaye, The Tender Trap, David Byrne, The Police, and so many more. Read, watch, and listen to more about these master percussionists, guitarists, and vocalists here.
