MEOW OH WOW: Who is your favorite Catwoman?

Turns out, there are many online lists ranking Catwoman actresses, with Michelle Pfeiffer often topping them. She was amazing, and if pressed, we'd agree. However, we "Throners" prefer our original meower: the leggy Julie Newmar. Back when "Doris Day types" were everywhere on TV, Newmar gave nine-year-olds their first "lap of leather." (Maybe TMI, but there it is!) Here are those lists. Variety / Entertainment Weekly / Digital Weekly

WOW OH MEOW: Nastasia Kinski!

Not a great movie, maybe not even a good movie, but this erotic thriller remake had us at a slinking Kinski. Watch the trailer here.

...UNDER...THE...RADAR…

(Missed, forgotten, overlooked, or hidden gems.)

The Man Who Wasn’t There (2001): If you appreciate modern noir, the Coen brothers are essential viewing alongside Tarantino. For us"Throners", The Man Who Wasn't There is arguably their most underrated work. While it may not reach the same heights as No Country for Old Men, its unique qualities—such as its striking black-and-white visuals or its unusual focus on haircuts and the existential angst of its lead, Ed Crane (brilliantly played by Billy Bob Thornton)—might explain its overlooked status. Ultimately, the reasons don't matter. What does matter is that you watch this film. Billy Bob, Frances McDormand, and James Gandolfini deliver captivating performances, complemented by exceptional cinematography, a memorable score, a compelling plot, and gripping drama. You'll be glad you did, even if "glad" feels like a foreign concept in its bleak, existential world. Watch the trailer here. (And please get your haircut already.)
